Collection #2 - A City Overgrown

A City Overgrown was a response to an impending, but endurable, apocalypse.
Before drawing designs I took photographs on my walks– of broken glass, rusted pipes and rust on buildings, and plants, bright green among silver metal. I also started to look at post apocalyptic imaginations of the world, of malls flooded with water and plants, and skyscrapers engulfed in ivy.
I began to envision this world, but also our survival in this world, because I think by nature humans are very adaptable. The hoodies were warm for survival, but also oversized because of scarcity and the to be of use for the long term. The camouflage print was the ivy shrouding a building, but also a survivor, hiding amongst their new environment. Tia's set was a rusted piece of metal, and though I thought of rust dyeing initially, I ended up staining the grey 'metal' with bleach. The fur pelt that Julianna wears was a memory of the glamors of the past, and the Futures dress was a look into a glamorized, cyborgian farther future, if there can be one.
